To some, three is a crowd. To others three is the ultimate bedtime fantasy. To Dale Anderson, Anil Chawla and Tim Davison three is the magic number, and the unique formula behind clubland_s newest group. DAT Soundsystem is the brainchild of three friends_ three fledging DJs_ and three formidable producers. Individually, Dale, Anil and Tim are well established in their own right and between them they represent an exciting new breed of DJ/Producers about to hit the big time.
Anil & Dale have just released their debut album _Roadhouse_ with Global Underground to mass acclaim. Described by I-DJ Magazine as having _set the standard for 2009_, the GU Worldwide Tour residents have become the label_s frontline infantry earning them plaudits aplenty including Laurent Garnier, Nic Fancuilli, John Digweed and Paul Oakenfold to name a few. Having flown out to WMC to guest star at the DJ Magazine and Global Undergound parties, Anil & Dale scooped _Deep House Track of the Year_ for the album track _Leftorium_ at the annual Beatport Awards and were nominated for _Best Artist_. At the end of 2008, Anil was also nominated by DJ Magazine as _Best Breakthrough DJ_ of the year and was shortlisted to host the new _In New DJs We Trust_ show on Radio 1. Meanwhile, Canadian-born Dale has played all over the planet and counts Hernan Cattaneo, Laurent Garnier, Jody Wisternoff and Paul van Dyk as his closest supporters. His tracks have featured on compilations from Global Underground, Renaissance and Armada and more globe-trotting tours are planned for the summer.
Completing the threesome is Tim Davison, described by DJ Magazine as _one of 2008_s brightest stars_. Tim released his own debut LP _Long Way from Home_ on Baroque Records last year to much critical praise and DJ support and the last 12 months have seen Tim criss-cross the globe taking in Argentina, Colombia, Indonesia, Serbia, Lithuania, Ukraine and over a dozen dates in Russia, as well playing at some of the UK_s cooler club nights including regular guest spots at The Gallery. Tim_s remixes of Underworld, Leftfield and, in particular his reworking of The Chemical Brothers_ _Hey Boy Hey Girl_ have become instant anthems played at open-air festivals and underground parties alike and with over 50 productions and remixes to his name Tim_s profile is on the up at a ridiculous rate.
And DAT is how they roll_
Since those early days, their profiles have continued to rise. They have worked both collectively and individually on an increasing number of leading productions and played in every corner of the globe, driving each other to achieve even more. DAT Soundsystem will finally give them the opportunity to bring all that talent together as part of this brand new residency for 2009 and push the envelope even further.
